Meal Planner – Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026
Your privacy is important to us. At Meal Planner, we do not sell your data or track you across other apps or websites. The content you add is yours, and we treat it with care and respect. However, to make certain features work, some data processing is necessary.
This page outlines what kind of personal information might be processed when using Meal Planner, and how that data is handled.
⚠️ Note: This document is intended as a simple and transparent explanation. For legal details, please refer to our full Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Data Processing Agreement.
📥 When Downloading the App
If you download Meal Planner from the App Store or Google Play, your basic information (like username or email) may be processed by those platforms. This is handled entirely by Apple or Google and is beyond our control.
📱 When Using the App
You can add notes, text entries, and photos from your camera or gallery in Meal Planner. These may include personal data like names, meal ideas, or other sensitive content.
- If you’re not signed in, your data is saved locally on your device and never leaves it.
- If you log in, your data is securely stored on our private server (powered by Parse) and used to keep your content synced across your devices.
☁️ Syncing Between Devices
We use our own backend, built on Parse Server, to sync your content (texts, photos, etc.) between your devices once you’re logged in. We only use your email address for authentication and data linking across devices.
❤️ Apple Health and Health Connect
Meal Planner can sync with Apple Health (iPhone and iPad) and Health Connect (Android). It is off by default: each type of data has its own switch in Settings > Apple Health (or Settings > Health Connect), and nothing is read or written until you turn it on and allow it on the system permission screen.
What we read, only to show it in the app:
- Weigh-ins, body fat, height and waist (waist on iPhone only) from your scale or other apps, for your weight diary and body measurements.
- Water you log in other apps, for your water tracker.
- Workouts from your watch or other apps, shown in the calorie counter and added to the calories you burned.
- Your sex and date of birth (iPhone only, and only if your profile doesn't have them yet), to calculate your calorie needs.
What we write, so your data is also in Health: your weigh-ins, height, body fat, waist and BMI (waist and BMI on iPhone only), water, the calories and nutrients of each meal in your calorie counter, and the exercise you log. We only write what you record in the app.
- Weigh-ins, measurements, water and profile data you import become part of your diaries: they are saved on your device and, if you're signed in, on our server to sync your devices, just like the data you type.
- Workouts from other apps stay only on your device.
- Your health data is never sold, never used for advertising, marketing or profiling, never shared with third parties (AI providers included) and never stored in iCloud.
- You can turn each switch off at any time, or remove the permissions in the Health app or in Health Connect. What was already saved in Health stays there until you delete it from Health; imported data stays in your diaries until you delete it or your account.
Our use of information received from Health Connect follows the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
🤖 AI Features (Experimental)
Meal Planner is testing AI-powered features using OpenAI. If you choose to try them, some of your data may be shared with OpenAI to generate suggestions or responses.
You will always be asked to accept terms before using these features. We do not use AI to process your data unless you activate it.
📊 Anonymous Analytics
We collect limited anonymous data using Firebase to help us improve the app and understand how it’s used. This includes performance metrics, crash reports, and feature usage – none of which can identify you.
You can disable analytics at any time in the app settings: Settings > Privacy & Permissions > Analytics > Disable
🛠️ Diagnostic Reports
When you report a problem, we might ask for diagnostic data to help us troubleshoot. These reports can include logs and technical information, some of which may contain parts of your app data.
All diagnostic info is used only to resolve your issue and is never shared with third parties. Some data, such as task titles, may be encrypted for added protection.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact our support team. You’re always in control of your data in Meal Planner.
